People driving diesel vehicles registered before 2015 and vans registered before 2016 will be in for a rude awakening on the 29th August 2023 when Mayor Sadiq Khan forces through the controversial ULEZ expansion which will leave drives up to £4,562 a year worse off in additional tax. Owners of petrol cars registered before 2001 and some cars registered between 2001 and 2005 will also have to pay a daily charge £12.50.
Ron Mushiso, the candidate for next year’s London Assembly Elections was joined in Feltham by campaigners, local Councillors and the Conservative Mayoral candidate Susan Hall as he went door to door explaining what the ULEZ expansion will mean for those on low incomes facing ever increasing costs.
Councillor Mushiso who has lived in the South West London constituency covering Feltham, Hounslow, Richmond and Kingston, for almost all of his life, is putting his full support behind the petition to Stop ULEZ .
Following on from his conversations on the doorstep with families, careers, the elderly and small business owners in Feltham this past weekend, Cllr Mushiso expressed the importance of doing things differently and listening to individual concerns within the communities. He criticised Mayor Sadiq Khan for what he terms, a governing style disconnected with the views of Londoners.
Cllr Mushiso added; “You can’t help but conclude that Sadiq Khan doesn’t care. He is gambling with the idea he will get elected again next year as he always has done and carry on again like nothing has happened. People are starting to realise that this not about party politics. They are recognising that ULEZ is nothing more than an additional tax on local people exactly at a time of financial uncertainty in people lives. That’s why they are joining the fight to stop ULEZ and elect a mayor that will scrap it all on day one.”
The London Assembly Election will take place in May 2024, alongside elections for the Mayor of London.
